Stress Free Dentistry in Vienna VA

Going to the dentist means something different to everybody. For the busy executive, it means taking valuable time out of their busy day. For the tired mom, it might mean a break for an hour!

For those with fear or anxiety about the dentist, however, it can mean a full-blown panic attack. Dental fear may cause you to avoid the dentist and neglect your oral health.

At Tysons Dentistry, we have good news for you! Dr. Ardalan Sanati and Dr. Shohreh Shahram are gentle and caring doctors who will put you at ease and help you feel comfortable in the dental chair. For those who need a little extra TLC, we have some tips and tactics to help make your visit stress free.

Communication

Let your dentist and hygienist know that you are fearful so they can help put you at ease. Tell them about your concerns and what makes you feel anxious. They can explain each step of the procedure so you know exactly what to expect. It’s helpful if you have an idea what causes your anxiety and you can share this with your provider.

Distraction

Sometimes listening to music or an audio book can help distract you from your procedure. Ask your dentist if you can bring headphones so you can listen to the audio of your choice.

Sedation Dentistry

At Tysons Dentistry, we strive to build a relationship with you so we understand your needs and concerns. For those patients who still need additional help feeling comfortable, we do offer options for sedation that will help you relax and feel at ease.

Nitrous oxide, or “laughing gas,” will make you feel comfortable and relaxed, and it leaves your system immediately so you’re able to drive yourself home and continue with normal daily activities.

Oral sedation is a medication prescribed to you and then taken approximately one hour prior to your procedure. This heavier form of sedation will relax you to the point where you may feel that you’ve fallen asleep even though you’re still responsive, and you won’t have much memory about your appointment.

Whatever your needs are, Dr. Sanati and Dr. Shahram are here to help! Helping you maintain optimum oral health is our goal, and we’ll do what it takes to make that happen for you.
